Cincinnati Dental Bonding
“Dr. Peck made my smile better than ever with his artistic bonding skills!” — Kim Houchen
Dental bonding is a conservative treatment for minor tooth imperfections such as gaps, chips, and discoloration. When performed by a skilled cosmetic dentist, this simple procedure produces amazing results, causing problem areas to vanish as the beauty of your smile is restored. Dr. Fred Peck, Cincinnati’s leading cosmetic dentist, has been transforming patients’ smiles with dental bonding for decades.
Problems Solved with Dental Bonding
Dental bonding can be used to resolve the following minor aesthetic concerns:
- Misshapen teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Tooth chips or fractures
- Spots or discolored areas on teeth
The photos below show a chipped front left tooth that was restored with expert bonding work. The restored tooth looks completely lifelike, as though no damage had ever occurred.
How Dental Bonding Works
This form of treatment involves applying and bonding a composite material to the surface of the tooth. To do this, Dr. Peck first prepares your tooth by gently roughening and etching its surface. He then applies the bonding agent to which the composite material will permanently adhere. Then, it is time to apply the composite material. Dr. Peck uses a variety of composite materials, in various tints, translucencies, and glosses. He carefully selects and prepares these so that together, they mimic, with exquisite detail, the aesthetics of a natural tooth. The color and translucency of a tooth naturally vary across its surface; it is important that the composites are applied to create the same effect. As you can imagine, a great deal of artistry goes into each customized bonding treatment Dr. Peck performs. When the beautiful restorative work is complete, we use a special light to harden the composite material. It is then polished to an enamel-mimicking luster. Your smile is then as good as new!
